Hello! I’m Leigh Anne Sutherlin — a musician, visual artist, composer, music director, and educator passionate about helping people find joy, expression, and confidence through the arts.

I'm a classically trained pianist (Indiana University Jacobs School of Music piano performance degree), jazz vocalist, published composer, and musical theatre music director with over 50 years of performance and teaching experience. I’ve had the privilege of directing more than 50 musical productions and coaching hundreds of students in piano, voice, audition prep, and musical storytelling. My background in both classical and jazz music allows me to teach and perform with an integrated approach that’s joyful, rigorous, and artistically alive.

As a visual artist, I’m drawn to the small, beautiful moments we often miss—spring flowers, ocean waves, cardinals in winter, and the warm light of sunset. My watercolor paintings and designs have been exhibited internationally in Paris, Berlin, Florence, Palma, and throughout California, and I’m honored to have completed an artist residency at Château d’Orquevaux in France. Whether on canvas, in the studio, or behind the piano, I aim to create art that helps people slow down and truly see.

I also compose original jazz and theatrical music—my albums Sandbar and Jazzy Carols feature original songs and arrangements rooted in jazz harmony and heart. When I’m not teaching or performing, you’ll likely find me baking chocolate chip cookies, dancing disco or ballroom, hiking by the coast, or speaking fluent Pig Latin. I once drove across the beautifully rich French countryside in a stick-shift Fiat and loved every bumpy second of it. 

I believe creativity should be fun, freeing, and fearless—and that’s what I try to bring to every project I do.
